The Pat Karch Quartet:

Pat Karch has been a Shasta County resident since 1976, and was born in the Trinity Alps town of Lewiston where the Karch family operated a bar and restaurant. At seven, according to the wishes of his father who was determined his third and last son would not play western guitar, Pat was sent to nearby Weaverville to study classical piano under direction of the local Baptist minister's wife. Being more fond of Nat King Cole than Mozart, both Pat and his teacher agreed to part ways after eight years of instruction. Pat's love of jazz and standards continues to this day as he performs with many local musicians in the Redding area.

Pat loves the way the Redding Dance Club interacts and dances "up a storm" to the music of the Pat Karch Quartet.

The Straight Ahead Big Band  The Straight Ahead Big Band started in Redding eleven years ago with a small group of Northern California musicians who enjoyed playing the music of the big bands.  Currently led by Steve Fischer, the 18-piece group plays a wide variety of music associated with famous big bands, and especially the "straight ahead" style of bands such as those led by Count Basie. (Hence the name of the group). Whether listening or dancing, there will be something for every fan of big band music at each performance. Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, and Stan Kenton are familiar sounds to listen for, as well as newer music in the genre.  Vocals and tunes are written and arranged by some of the bands members. The Big band sound that filled American's dance and concert halls for years is alive -- swinging & thriving right here in Redding! To buy one of their CD's see "links" to contact them.
